The challenge
The startup ran same-day deliveries for local retailers across Pune using WhatsApp groups and a shared spreadsheet. Dispatchers assigned orders by phone, had no live view of where drivers were, and customers called repeatedly asking for updates. Proof of delivery was a photo sent on WhatsApp, which made disputes with retailers hard to resolve. The team needed a system quickly but had no in-house engineers.

What we did
- Built a Flutter app for Android drivers with assigned routes, turn-by-turn navigation, offline support and photo and OTP proof of delivery.
- Developed a React operations dashboard showing live driver locations, order status and exceptions, with drag-and-drop reassignment.
- Added automatic customer SMS and WhatsApp updates at pickup, out for delivery and delivered.
- Moved the platform onto a maintenance plan with monitoring, crash reporting and monthly releases as new retailers came on board.
We went from WhatsApp groups to a proper dispatch system in one quarter. Having the same team support it since launch means problems get fixed before drivers notice.
